Let's Get Our Party On!

July 24th is approaching quickly and I can't be anymore excited for the release of Accepting Magnolia. In celebration, I'm going to throw a party and you are all invited! Join me on July 23rd between the hours of 10am to 8pm for some fun and prizes. You're not going to want to miss this!

It's been a busy week around here. Kids are back from their vacations and our guests have gone home which means routines are back in full swing. I love when everyone is here visiting. We went to the lake for the Fourth, enjoyed the boat, did some swimming, lit off fireworks, shared in the company of out extended family and had an all around great time. But all good times must come to an end and as much as I hate to see our family leave, I'm relieved to get my house back in order.

If you didn't see my Instastories this week you may have missed my book burning ceremony. Okay, it wasn't much of a ceremony as it was a tribute to my Gramps, but I did burn a copy of Accepting Magnolia. **Gasp** Why are you burning perfectly good, beautiful books, you might ask? Since I wrote Accepting Magnolia for my Gramps, I'm determined to give it to him. So, I cremated the book as my grandfather was cremated and will have the ashes placed inside my grandparents crypt. He's getting this book dammit! He's also getting pennies. Lots and lots of pennies. I know it sounds weird but he came to me in a dream and told me he needed pennies. And so, pennies and a burned book he shall get.

I hope you all are enjoying your summer. Mine has been pretty low-key as I've been trying to heal from knee surgery. Eh, it's not healing as fast as I'd like but I'm far better of now than I was last year. With 6 weeks of down time I have managed to do absolutely nothing. For real...nothing. Okay, mostly nothing. I've written some and I've read a few books. Tell me, what are some of your summer reads? I've read Hidden Seams by Alessandra Torre. If you haven't read her books yet you must! She's amazing. Also, Twist by K.C. Enders. Holy cow, what a great book. And, Folsom by Tarryn Fisher and Willow Aster. These are all epic books I highly recommend.

She likes it. She really, really likes it...

My middle child is very critical of, well, everything. She's kind of snobby in a sweet kind of way. And that is why I asked her to critique Accepting Magnolia. Who better to give me their unbiased opinion? My eleven-year-old who likes nothing. Believe me, she does not shy away from telling someone if something blows, so I was a bit apprehensive for her to read it.

Of course, she was excited to read it, but there was a catch. She prefers audiobooks which meant I had to read the whole book out loud to her. Don't worry, I made her read some to me, too. I wasn't going to allow her to get out of practicing her reading skills. Anyway, I was thrilled every time she asked me to read another chapter, that she wasn't ready to put it down. I was even a little giddy when she started to cry. Then again, she cries at pretty much everything, like her mother, so I wasn't all too surprised.

We finished Accepting Magnolia tonight, and I'm proud to say...I got a high-five and a, "Well, that was definitely better than The Hobbit." I don't know if that is saying much. I didn't care much for The Hobbit myself. I guess that means her and I have similar tastes in books! She said it held her interest and felt there were multiple positive messages. You know what? I'll take it!

I can say this...it doesn't matter if this book sucks balls. The fact my eleven-year-old enjoyed it, and we spent quality time reading it together, I'd say it's a 5 star read. What do you think?

If you read Accepting Magnolia, which I sure hope you do, I would be over the moon if you left a review. Don't want to have to write out your opinion? That's okay. How about clicking how many stars you would rate it. I would so greatly appreciate it!

Life Happens

Not gonna lie, I am completely overwhelmed by Accepting Magnolia. It's finished and came back from the editor, but then I thought maybe I should have a content editor go through it. Which, by the way, is ass backwards. See, it should be content edited first then edited and I did it in the reverse order. It's okay though. I'm taking my time because this book means so much to me. But yeah, I am overwhelmed by all the changes I am making. What started off a simple tweak here and there is turning out to be more of a dissection of chapters. I know when it's fully polished it will be my best work yet. I truly love this book, for multiple reasons, and can't wait for ya'll to read it.

But life happens, and life can be a real shady bitch sometimes. On top of trying to finish AM, my house has been a cesspool of germs. Flu to be exact. I haven't had much time for writing or tweaking AM since I'm on round two of said flu. My son took two hits. My girls and my husband each have had their own knock out rounds with the devil. I'm hoping it vacates the premises soon because he has overstayed his welcome, for sure. This has been going on since Christmas and it's now mid-February. For real, the flu and his punk ass needs to get the hell out of my house.

What are you reading? What releases are you excited for? A few books I highly recommend for you to pick up are Bright Side by Kim Holden, An Unforgiveable Love Story by B.L. Berry, Troubles by KC Enders, and The Ghostwriter by Alessandra Torre. Bright Side will have you bawling your eyes out. You'll want to slap B.L. Berry for screwing with your head with AULS. You'll fall in love with an Irishman in Troubles. And you'll feel every single emotion with The Ghostwriter. Such different stories but all shine with fabulous writing and storylines. They are beautiful and amazing, so don't miss your chance to read these books!

If you haven't already, sign up for my newsletter. I'll keep you updated on new releases, giveaways and more!

Hope your new year is off to a good start and you all are staying healthy.

Accepting Magnolia...

I have finally finished Accepting Magnolia! This book took me a lot longer than I had expected. I was in a race to get it finished when my gramps got sick, but I didn't make it in time. He passed away before I could finish. See, this book was for him. Something I could happily let him read without blushing. A book that wouldn't embarrass him or me while he read it! Erotica or contemporary romance, he was always proud. But still, I just wanted one book he could read without Catholic guilt.

Now, figuring out a title for this book has been challenging and I'm not firm on Accepting Magnolia, so it is very possible it might change. But, Accepting Magnolia is a romantic suspense with a hint of paranormal undertone. No vampires or werewolves in this book, sorry! If you like a tinge of a ghost story, this one might be for you. Here is a little, rough blurb for Accepting Magnolia...

Magnolia Pare has always been an outcast, bullied for being different. She has a gift, a very special gift…she can communicate with the dead. When a small boy comes to her for help, it is nothing she has ever experienced before. That is because Max isn’t actually dead. In a race against time, Magnolia must channel the connection that ties their souls together in order to find Max before it is too late. When Magnolia finds Max’s abductor and confronts him, he strikes back, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Magnolia must rely on the help of Max and his father in order to cope with the struggles related to her new disability, finding love in the process.

Magnolia’s story touches on significant, real life issues happening in the world today. Religion, ignorance, violence and self-discovery to name a few.

Lost Without You

Nine days! That's right, Lost Without You is being released on June 16, 2016. I cannot wait to share it with you all. What do you think Brittany and Cooper are up to now? Have they found each other? I guess there is only one way to find out! Mark your calendars and get your copy of Lost Without You on 6/16/2016! Both eBooks and print copies will be available. Check out Whimsical Publications website to order through them. They have links to every site Lost Without You will be available to purchase on. http://whimsicalpublications.com/DM_Thornton/Lost_Without_You.html

Here is the blurb for Lost Without You:

You think trying to survive the Amazon rainforest is hard? Try
being thrown back into reality. Back to civilian life. It’s not so easy conforming to what is socially acceptable, and when you have to do it alone, your sanity starts to toy with your emotions.

Going back home was what she wanted, or at least that’s what
Brittany Powers thought. But being forced to go with people she despises wasn’t what she planned. She no longer fits into the mold of what society thinks is right, and when she tries to find her own place in this world she once called home, the people around her think she has gone mad.

Cooper Owens won’t ever be the same. Not after he watched the
love of his life leave with the people he knew she hated. And now he has to deal with the fact that he was the one that put her there. He’d do anything to get her back, but he’s lost his way...again.

The road of life has many paths. But when it’s true love, the stars align in a way that paves the walkway to meet in the middle. It’s up to Brittany and Cooper which roads they choose to take. If their love is strong enough, they’ll find each other on the road less traveled.

I have finally finished What Lies Beneath The Flower Bed. Here is a synopsis...

Gray Knight has a garden that can impress even Martha Stewart. How so? Well, she uses the most organic fertilizer she can find. Who knew that the corpse of a human body could produce the most beautiful flowers in all of Kansas? Sit back but don’t relax. Gray and her friends are about to take you on one hilarious, sexy and morbid ride.

Gray is not your typical serial killer. Not by a long shot. She’s unconventional in her approach and her victims are hand picked based on one common thread...they have all brutally abused women. Abused herself, Gray makes it her mission, with the help of her friends Andi and Jaz, to remove as many criminals as possible, leaving not a single trace of evidence behind. So she believes.

What do you get when you have an obsessive compulsive killer, a sexy vixen with a spoon and a sex deprived bitch with a gay husband? You get the Toxic Trio, of course. Three best friends with three wildly different personalities. And when they meet three hot men...well, all hell breaks loose. Why do you ask? Let’s just say that Jett, Cole and Drew are not the ideal boyfriends to have around when you spend your weekends slicing people open, pulling their organs out and burying them in the backyard.

Jaz and Andi can hardly keep their focus when Cole and Drew walk into the bar, but Gray is more cautious than her friends. Okay, cautious isn’t quite the word. Gray is paranoid. But she has a good reason to be. Jett Roman is a homicide detective, and for all Gray knows, Jett is the Grim Reaper who has come to lay her to rest. Are the foreign emotions Jett’s making Gray feel true or just smoke and mirrors? Only time will tell if her suspicions are as dead on as the cold bodies under the flowers.
